Hindernisse als (Ziel-)Konflikte beim nachhaltigen Bauen
Yuca Meubrink, Ulrike Kuhlmann, Mike Schlaich, published at nbau 5 (2026) / Heft 1
In the article “Hindernisse als (Ziel-)Konflikte beim nachhaltigen Bauen” (Obstacles as (goal) conflicts in sustainable construction), published on 20th of February 2026, Yuca Meubrink, Ulrike Kuhlmann and Mike Schlaich describe and question the goal conflicts of sustainable construction. Because of the building sectors major contribution to recourse use, emissions and waste production, it is also one of the main leverage points for a sustainable future. However even though there are well known approaches for sustainability in the construction industry, there are many obstacles that keep them from finding wide spread use in practice. Some of these obstacles take the shape of 8 core goal conflicts described in this article. It poses the question: are these really incompatible goal conflicts or are they really institutionalised conflicts that could be overcome. What could a wholistic approach to the solution look like?
